Photography Blog

Welcome to my photography journal — a space where I share the stories behind the lens.
Here, I explore the art of light, travel, and timing — from quiet dawns to the golden hush of sunset. Each post dives into the creative process, the challenges in the field, and the fleeting moments that make every photograph worth chasing.

I love spending time in San Francisco. One of my favorite cities and full of dressed-up characters during Halloween. This trip I met someone from a part of the North of England where I lived for ten years and where two of my daughetrs were born.  To tourists like him who are lucky enough to have just come from or are going to nearby Yosemite, I show them this photo. Taken during the winter of 2022 when there were less visitors, it shows the majesty of Half Dome as the suns sets on the valley. Taken from one of the meadows near Happy Isles Loop Road,  it shows how unique Yosemite Valley is as the sun goes down; plunging the valley into shadow while illuminating the highly reflective dome  with warm red and yellow hues, which is known as alpenglow.  A family is playing in the shadow of the pine trees seemingly oblivious to the setting sun.
